Pasta!

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

So I got a pasta roller/slicer this past week for my lovely lady for valentines day. It was nothing short of awesome. It was easy to make, after the dough is refrigerated for an hour it rolls out really easy. The pasta then cooks in a minute or two. We made some garlic bread with freshly grated romano cheese and put together some home made red sauce to put on the pasta. Next week is Ravioli we’re lookin at spinach and cheese. Should be fun.

Tamale Time

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I made tamales a few years ago at a friends families xmas even party and they were both delicious and fun to make. It’s also easy to make them vegetarian because you can put pretty much anything in them. For these we made a corn, cheese, chili tamales from epicurious. I have to say the salsa recipe that comes with it rocked as well, but was a bit too citrusy so we added more green salsa or you could cut down on the lime a bit.

homemade pesto experiment

Friday, October 24th, 2008

So a few days ago we had a craigslist find of free basil. We have a small plant growing on our back porch but this was take as much as you want. So my roommates picked up a whole bag full early in the morning and that night we set out to make some pesto. A bit of roasted garlic and pine nuts, ground up in a blender with the pesto and we had fairly cheap, delicious home made pesto. The shots came out lookin like it’s 1988 but are sorta neat, especially paired with our funky old electric stove.
